In the SoAI WebUI, Storage appears in the sidebar's System section only in SoAI OS. It requires
SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN) and shows block devices, partitions, mounts, and an fstab
table. Use it for appliance storage work, not for a model's storage configuration.
Read the current state
Select Refresh storage status before a mutation. Device cards report the disk, partitions, filesystem, UUID, mount state, and read-only state. A ZFS volume is labelled ZFS volume managed outside SoAI and is read-only here. SoAI does not offer destructive actions for a target it reports as read-only.
Create, format, mount, and persist a partition
Warning: Create partition initializes the selected disk with a GUID Partition
Table (GPT) before creating the new partition. Treat it as a whole-disk destructive operation. SoAI
rejects this operation when the disk contains the root filesystem or a mounted filesystem, and it requires the
current device fingerprint from the latest snapshot.
- Select the relevant device or partition control: Create partition, Format partition, Mount partition, or Unmount partition.
- Complete the dialog and select Preview. Read Commands, Effects, and Warnings before selecting Execute.
- After the accepted task reaches a terminal state, select Refresh storage status and verify the reported mount and filesystem state before another destructive operation.
Formatting supports ext4 and exfat. If the selected partition has existing signatures,
select Allow wiping existing signatures before formatting can continue.
Make a mount persistent
In the fstab panel, select Add fstab entry. Choose a partition UUID, enter a mount
point below /mnt/soai, choose the filesystem, preview the plan, and select Execute.
SoAI creates or verifies the mount point, adds or replaces the UUID-based /etc/fstab entry for that
mount point, reloads systemd, and mounts it. Use Remove fstab entry for an existing entry; it
reloads systemd but does not unmount, format, or remove the partition.
If a format task leaves a Recovery required card in Ready to review state, select Review recovery to reopen the format dialog. Select Release quarantine only after verifying the physical target or retiring it. The Release storage quarantine dialog requires the exact partition path and removes the storage conflict lock without rerunning the format.
