SoAI Connect is the Android client for your server. It opens the SoAI WebUI served by that server, so Chat, Automation, Models, Files, and Settings work much as they do in a browser. Models and user data stay on the server.
What the app adds
The main screen is the WebUI inside Android WebView. The app blocks mixed-content loads and handles camera, microphone, and file access through Android's permission prompts and pickers.
Server alerts can reach the Android notification shade while the app is in the background. You can also send a Wake-on-LAN packet before you connect. Open the app's settings to review certificate trust, clear WebUI data, change servers, or use Incognito Mode. The device name saved there appears in the server's session list. The app includes English and 25 translations, and follows the phone's dark theme.
To set up a connection, open Settings > Connect in the SoAI WebUI and scan its QR code with the app. SoAI Connect checks that the address belongs to the intended server before connecting. You can also enter the address manually; see Connect to a SoAI server for both paths.
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Phone or tablet | Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer. |
| SoAI account |
A SoAI WebUI account on that server. An administrator with User administration (USER_ADMIN) permission can select the Settings button at the right of the header, choose
Settings, select Users, then select Create user. See
Administration overview for account and permission
management.
|
| Server | A running instance that the device can reach over HTTP or HTTPS. |
SoAI Connect does not run models on the phone (it only presents the server's WebUI). If the phone cannot reach the server, the WebUI does not load and Android notifications cannot receive new alerts.
Install SoAI Connect
Open the SoAI Connect repository and select
Releases to find the APK files. There is no app store listing. Download
SoAI-Connect-<version>-android.apk and its matching .sha256 file. On a computer with
Android SDK Build Tools installed, verify the download before copying or
opening it on the phone.
sha256sum -c SoAI-Connect-<version>-android.apk.sha256 apksigner verify --print-certs SoAI-Connect-<version>-android.apk
Official release APKs report this signer:
Signer: CN=SoAI Connect, O=SoAI, L=Rome, C=IT SHA-256 digest: 664ee2c1ce55db7179eafab41ff22585380e236e1a8163a50e273e4691b6990b
After verification, open the APK on the phone. Android may ask you to allow installs from the browser or file manager you used. Allow that source, install SoAI Connect, then turn the permission off if you do not use it for other packages.
Release APKs use Android signature schemes v2 and v3 without a v1 JAR signature. Do not install a package if the checksum or signer differs. Report suspect packages to security@soai.to.
Data storage
| Location | Stored data |
|---|---|
| Device | Server address and identity, session cookies, web cache and site data, preferences, device identity, notification state, Wake-on-LAN values, and any certificate fingerprint you choose to trust. |
| SoAI server | Conversations, files, models, automations, user accounts, and active session records. |
Android backup is disabled for SoAI Connect. Incognito Mode clears cookies and WebUI data when you leave the app. It also turns off Android notifications because their background connection needs your signed-in session.
