Drivers is an appliance Settings tab. In the SoAI WebUI, select the
Settings button at the right of the header, then Settings and Drivers. The tab is
available only in the appliance edition to a current administrator with SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). Core has
neither this tab nor the corresponding host-driver routes.
Read the driver state first
Select Refresh before making a change. The Driver status cards report detection, package installation, active kernel modules, runtime tools, readiness, and whether a reboot is required. Installed packages alone do not mean that the driver is ready. Read a card's warnings, then check the Secure Boot and DKMS modules sections when they are relevant to the hardware.
SoAI lists an actionable driver only when it detected that family or can uninstall a previously managed driver. The Driver ID, Driver variant, and preview actions stay unavailable until an actionable target is selected. When no target is available, the tab shows No matching GPU drivers detected.
Install a driver
- Choose a target under Driver ID and, when shown, choose its Driver variant.
- Select Preview install. The Driver preview dialog lists Planned commands, Predicted effects, and Warnings.
- Check that the plan matches the host, then select Install driver in the dialog and confirm the same action.
- Wait for task completion, select Refresh, and review the card again. Restart the host only if the card reports Reboot required.
The current catalog supports NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. NVIDIA can offer the Debian and NVIDIA 590 variants; AMD and Intel use Debian. The NVIDIA 590 variant is for Turing and newer GPUs. Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs must use the Debian variant. The offered choices reflect detected hardware and package availability, so a detected GPU does not guarantee that every package plan will succeed.
Uninstall carefully
Select Preview uninstall, inspect the Driver preview, then select Uninstall driver and confirm it. Do not remove the only working display or inference driver unless console access or another recovery path is available. For AMD and Intel, uninstall removes only SoAI-managed driver tools; it leaves firmware, Mesa, media, and display packages in place.
