SoAI OS is not yet available and will be released in the future.
SoAI OS is the appliance edition of SoAI for Debian 13. It includes SoAI Core and private services that manage the
host, including NetworkManager, APT, SSH, storage, and GPU drivers. A Core artifact does not include the
soai_os tree or its host-management routes.
SoAI OS is not yet available and is not currently distributed. Purchases, licenses, and installation media are not being issued. Contact info@soai.to to join the waitlist; joining does not grant a license or promise an availability date.
SoAI OS installation media supports amd64 and arm64 computers. The installer needs internet access to reach the Debian repositories. On the first boot, it installs the SoAI runtime, enables the SoAI service, and waits for the health check to pass before starting the desktop. Open the SoAI desktop shortcut, then complete the licensing and administrator steps in the setup wizard. See SoAI quickstart for the first WebUI session.
Start SoAI OS and find its host controls
Use ./soai_os/soai_os.sh for appliance lifecycle commands. Do not run ./soai.sh in that
installation. The appliance launcher selects the SoAI OS entry point; a configuration value or environment
variable cannot turn a Core installation into the appliance edition.
Find host controls in the SoAI WebUI
Host controls exist only in the SoAI OS frontend. Most require the SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN) action.
The default Administrator role has that action, although an administrator with ACL administration
(ACL_ADMIN) can change grants. A missing
page, tab, or action usually means that the current edition, administrator status, or assigned actions do not meet
its requirements.
-
Select Network or Storage in the sidebar's System section to
manage those host resources. Both pages require SoAI OS administration (
HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). -
For SSH or drivers, select the Settings button at the right of the header, then
Settings. The SSH and Drivers tabs require a current
administrator and SoAI OS administration (
HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). -
The Users tab requires a current administrator with User administration (
USER_ADMIN). The host actions in its SoAI OS Users section also require SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). Standard accounts cannot open the Users tab. -
Select the Settings button at the right of the header, then Updates to open the
updates page. Opening it requires Software updates (
SOFTWARE_UPDATE); Debian package checks and installations in the SoAI OS updates section also require SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). -
Power is separate from the SoAI OS permission. It requires a current administrator with
System power control (
SYSTEM_POWER); host restart, shutdown, suspend, and hibernate actions can also be disabled in configuration.
Tasks and rollback windows
Driver, package-update, partition, network safe-apply, and SSH safe-disable operations run as tasks. Follow their progress in the originating page, or open the header bell and select Tasks. Network safe apply and SSH safe disable have a deadline: commit a working change before it expires, or SoAI OS restores the earlier state.
The host-management API is available under /api/v1/os and enforces the same server-side action checks
as the WebUI. Use the HTTP API reference only when automating a workflow that is already
understood in the WebUI.
