SoAI OS network management

In the SoAI WebUI, Network appears in the sidebar's System section only in SoAI OS. It requires SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). The page reads NetworkManager devices and connections, then lets an authorized user stage an editable connection profile or enable and disable a managed connection.

Inspect and stage a connection profile

  1. Select Network, then Refresh.
  2. Find the device. Configure network device appears only when it has an associated connection and SoAI reports that the profile is editable.
  3. In Configure <connection>, set the IPv4 and IPv6 method, addresses, gateway, DNS servers, and Autoconnect as needed. Automatic IPv4 and IPv6 fields show the current assignment and are read-only; choose a manual method to edit them.
  4. Select Preview to inspect Planned commands, Predicted effects, and Warnings. Select Save when the stored profile is correct.

Saving updates the stored NetworkManager profile only. It does not activate the profile. Use the device connection toggle when you are ready to activate or deactivate it. The toggle is unavailable for an unmanaged device or one without an associated connection.

Use safe apply for a risky connection change

Changing a device toggle opens an enable or disable confirmation. Safe apply (automatic rollback) is off by default, so the WebUI commits an accepted change immediately unless you turn safe apply on. Enable it before confirming when losing connectivity would be a problem.

With safe apply enabled, Rollback timeout (seconds) defaults to 120 and accepts whole values from 1 to 3,600. SoAI then shows Commit network change. Select Confirm before the deadline to keep the change. Declining that dialog offers Rollback network change; if no commit arrives by the deadline, SoAI restores the earlier connection state automatically.

Keep local console access before changing the connection that carries the WebUI session.
