SoAI OS package updates

The Updates page has separate jobs in the appliance edition: updating the application and updating Debian packages on the host. The SoAI OS updates section manages Debian packages only. Select the Settings button at the right of the header, then Updates. Opening the page requires Software updates (SOFTWARE_UPDATE); the package section also requires SoAI OS administration (HOST_MANAGEMENT_ADMIN). Application release updates are covered in Updating SoAI.

Check the host before installing

  1. Select Check OS updates.
  2. Wait for SoAI OS updates to load its package table. The check refreshes APT package lists and simulates an upgrade. It does not install packages or restart the host.
  3. Review each available package's Current and New version, Download size, and Security status.

Host update checks and installs need an online runtime because they contact Debian repositories. They are unavailable when SYSTEM.RUNTIME.STAY_OFFLINE is enabled.

Install packages from the SoAI WebUI

  1. Select individual packages, or use Select all upgradable packages at the left of the table header to select every available package.
  2. Use dist-upgrade is available only when the header checkbox selects every listed package. With individual packages selected, SoAI uses an APT install for those packages.
  3. Select Preview install and read Planned commands, Predicted effects, and Warnings. Changing the package selection or the dist-upgrade choice invalidates the preview.
  4. Select Execute install, confirm it, and follow Task progress on the page.

SoAI serializes APT work, refreshes package lists before installation, simulates the selected operation, and reserves reported disk space when necessary. The task never restarts the host. If the result requires a restart, select Power in the sidebar's System section, then select Restart system. Power requires a current administrator with System power control (SYSTEM_POWER) and is unavailable when SYSTEM.RUNTIME.HOST_SYSTEM_ACTIONS_DISABLED is enabled.
