External is a persistent connector for remote OpenAI-compatible APIs. It does not install, download, or run a provider on the SoAI host. It stores a provider connection and imports the models that provider reports.

In SoAI, open Models > Add model > Add provider, choose External, and enter the provider name, API URL, and API key. SoAI discovers models through the provider's /models response and applies the optional Models filter. Capability data varies by provider, so confirm an imported model's capabilities before you use media, tools, structured output, or Responses.
